About Look Before You Book

A public awareness project by the American Bus Association.

Look Before You Book is a public awareness project by the American Bus Association. The campaign helps consumers, schools, event planners, tour organizers, teams, churches, companies, and public agencies ask better questions, verify safety information, and make more informed transportation decisions before booking a bus.

The campaign supports the private motorcoach industry's safety ethic and complements FMCSA's enforcement role by helping buyers understand what to check before a trip is booked.

Safety starts before the bus arrives. It starts with knowing who you are hiring.

Our Principles

Before you book the trip, check the company.
Ask for the USDOT number.
Verify the safety record.
Know who is operating the bus.
Look before you book.
